മലയാളിയായ മുൻ ഐ.പി.എസുകാരന് 15 വർഷം തടവ്
മുംബൈ: മയക്കുമരുന്ന് കടത്ത് കേസിൽ മുൻ ഐ.പി.എസ്. ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനും മലയാളിയുമായ സജി മോഹനെ പ്രത്യേക കോടതി 15 വർഷം തടവിനു ശിക്ഷിച്ചു. 2009-ൽ 37 കിലോ ഹെറോയ്ൻ സജി മോഹനിൽനിന്ന് മുംബൈയിലെ ഭീകരവിരുദ്ധ സ്ക്വാഡ് പിടിച്ചെടുത്തിരുന്നു. പത്തനാപുരം സ്വദേശിയാണ് സജി മോഹൻ. കേരളത്തിൽ എൻഫോഴ്‌സ്‌മെന്റ് വിഭാഗം (ഇ.ഡി.) മേധാവിയായി ചുമതലയേറ്റശേഷം ഡൽഹിയിൽ പരിശീലനം കഴിഞ്ഞ് മടങ്ങിയെത്തുമ്പോഴാണ് സജി മോഹൻ മുംബൈയിൽ പിടിയിലാകുന്നത്. സജി മോഹന്റെ കൂട്ടുപ്രതി ഹരിയാണ പോലീസ് കോൺസ്റ്റബിൾ രാജേഷ് കുമാർ കട്ടാരിയായെ 10 വർഷം തടവിനും ശിക്ഷിച്ചു.മയക്കുമരുന്ന് കേസിൽ ചണ്ഡീഗഢ്‌ കോടതി സജി മോഹനെ 13 വർഷം തടവിന് ശിക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നു. മയക്കുമരുന്ന് കടത്ത് കേസുകൾ വിചാരണചെയ്യുന്ന എൻ.ഡി.പി.എസ്. കോടതിയാണ് ശിക്ഷവിധിച്ചത്. 2009 ജനുവരി 17-നാണ് സജി മോഹൻ എ.ടി.എസിന്റെ പിടിയിലാകുന്നത്. 12 പാക്കറ്റുകളിലായി നിറച്ച 12 കിലോ ഹെറോയ്‌നാണ് അന്ന് സജി മോഹനിൽനിന്ന് പിടികൂടിയത്.ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യലിനെത്തുടർന്ന് ഒളിപ്പിച്ചുവെച്ചിരുന്ന 25 കിലോ ഹെറോയ്ൻകൂടി കണ്ടെടുക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. സജി മോഹൻ പിടിയിലാകുന്നതിന്‌ ഒരാഴ്ചമുമ്പായിരുന്നു കൂട്ടുപ്രതികളായി കട്ടാരിയായും വിക്കി ഒബ്‌റോയും പിടിയിലായത്. ഇവരെ ചോദ്യംചെയ്തതിൽനിന്നുമാണ് സജി മോഹന്റെ പങ്ക് വെളിപ്പെടുന്നത്. സജി മോഹൻ ചണ്ഡീഗഢിൽ മയക്കുമരുന്ന് വിരുദ്ധ വിഭാഗം മേധവിയായിരുന്നപ്പോൾ പിടികൂടിയ മയക്കുമരുന്നു ശേഖരം മയക്കുമരുന്ന് കടത്തുകാരെ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് വിൽക്കുകയായിരുന്നുവെന്നാണ് കുറ്റം. വിക്കി ഒബ്‌റോയ് ഈ കേസിൽ മാപ്പുസാക്ഷിയായി. കൂടാതെ 23 സാക്ഷികളെക്കൂടി പ്രോസിക്യൂഷൻ വിസ്തരിച്ചു. പരമാവധി ശിക്ഷയായ വധശിക്ഷതന്നെ സജി മോഹന് നൽകണമെന്ന് പ്രോസിക്യൂഷൻ വാദിച്ചെങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അഭിഭാഷകർ എതിർത്തു. അഭിഭാഷകരായ പാരിഖ് സയിദ്, ശേഖർ ഭണ്ഡാരി, കെ. ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ എന്നിവർ സജി മോഹനുവേണ്ടി ഹാജരായി. ഹൈക്കോടതിയിൽ അപ്പീൽ സമർപ്പിക്കുമെന്ന് അഡ്വ. ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ അറിയിച്ചു.
